In 2020, I lost my soulmate and the father of my two sons because of mental health, many people feel lost and alone and don't speak up or ask for help, and at times they feel the system can let them down. After losing him I wanted to honour his memory and make a difference in supporting those struggling with their mental health.
Reducing the stigma around mental health and creating awareness by doing charity work, swimming challenges and creating products that will help anyone find more peace when seeing the beauty of the calming waters through my calendars and photo books. These are images taken out on walks and dedicated to raising funds for mental health foundation.
I am so grateful to have created 2 calendars and my favourite Soulful Moments photo book that is dedicated to Robyn, swam various water challenges and we have raised £3500 so far through the different channels and are still going strong.
The different water challenges I have done are:
Swimming an open water challenge from Lamlash (Isle of Arran) to Holy Isle in 2021, my first open water challenge and this year I am in training to swim it again.
I completed ‘The Polar Bear Challenge’, where I was required to swim not only 3000m per month between 1st Nov-31st March, but to also undertake 10 different challenges, wearing only a swimming costume in temperatures less than 9 degrees Celsius.
This year I will be swimming from Lamlash (Isle of Arran) to Holy Isle back to Lamlash, 2.9 miles and all funds raised will go towards homelessness in Scotland and Addiction Support.
I will keep you posted on my progress and if you would like to donate to support these charities, please click the link to help.
Raising funds for these incredible charities is so important to give people a chance, please help me do more by sponsoring my swim to raise the funds.
